Working on our New Addition!

The children are working on a new project that we will be hanging in our multipurpose room! We are using an old bike tire and using wire to hang different materials from it to make our own chandelier. We can't wait to see how this will come together!
Jude wrapped the wire around a bent fork to hang from the tire frame.
FiFi picked out different objects from the bin that she then wired on herself!
Sarah was very concentrated when stringing together different items to hang.
Cynthia worked very hard wiring different items to the bike tire. "This is very heavy I wonder how they will hang it from the ceiling."

Today was a great start to our week ahead! Have a fantastic night!

Polar Bears, Penguins, & Snow Moutians Oh My!!

It was a very busy day in the sensory table in the Walnut Room Thursday! We brought some snow from outside and the children used Polar Animals to engage with at the table! James, Gabrielle and Christopher, build a snowy mountain for the penguins to hide in! James said, "We're gonna build a tunnel for them to get out of the mountain." James decided to use the nose of the polar bear to create the tunnel.

Sledding in the amphitheater

Today we opened up the amphitheater and let the sledding commence! The weather, and snowfall from yesterday, made it a great day to end our first week back at school. The children were very excited to play in the new snow; they even had it for a snack! The kids loaded up on sleds racing down the hill, making snow angels, and pulling each other around the playground.

Winter Wonderland!

Despite from the weather outside today, there was lots of snow falling inside of the Oak room at the CDLL. Many children gathered throughout the day to create their glitter snowflakes from a many different stencil snowflake shapes to choose from. Casey said, "I am using both the gold and blue!" Each snowflake that was made was indeed very different from one another. We placed all the freshly made snowflakes on the drying rack to then peel their designs off and decorate the classroom. We can't wait to see the results!

Have a wonderful night!

Blocks, Blocks Everywhere

Today, in the Maple room, the block area was very busy. The children had made a very tall structure the day before and they decided to add to it. James said, "I'm building a trap for the monsters". He classified the little brown and black bricks as a sticky trap to catch the bad guys. Daniel was focused on making the structures stay balanced so they didn't fall over and make the loud noise that was said to be scary. The story of the structures advanced throughout center time. A couple of the boys started a count down to when the monsters and dragons were ariving. they also made up plans to what they were going to build to keep their treasure safe.

New Semester, New Teachers, New Experiences!

Today was our first day back from our long winter break. We were so excited to see each other, and return to our school. We also were introduced to many new faces, including our new teachers! Throughout the day children helped welcome their new teachers, and show them the ropes throughout the CDLL. As the day moved on, we quickly remembered our routine and got back into the swing of things. Children also got to explore winter both inside and out! In the Walnut room children got to experience snow in a new way. After snow was brought in from outside children put on some gloves and dug right in! As they sifted through the snow, the children began to note what was happening to their gloves and the floor around them. Tony stated, "The floor is all wet from the snow, it melted!" Violet also noted, "My hands are all wet!" This chilly new addition attracted many and allowed us to see what happens to snow when we bring it inside. As day one of our journey ends, we look forward to the road ahead and thrilled for all the experiences to come!

Have a wonderful night!

Welcome Back!

We had a great first day back to school! We all welcomed the children back from break and also welcomed two new children today! Makayla and David were in pod B getting familiar with the faces and classrooms. Even though they had almost a month away, the children were able to recognize who was there, who was not there, and who was new to the classroom. The children explored some new materials and also revisited some of their favorites from last semester.

Have a great day,
Ms. Gage
