How Do Children Observe Trees?

How Do Children Observe Trees?

10/6/15

Today Ms. Gursky's small group ventured across the street and sat under a maple tree.  Miss Bomay read the small group a book about the life cycle of trees.  We laid underneath the tree and discussed what we observed.

"There are ten branches!"
~James

After discussing what a tree is made up of and what they look like, the children then asked to go up and touch and hug the tree.  We talked about the texture of the bark and some of the things that made up the bark.

 "It tickles me!"
~Stephen

After examining the leaves on the ground and observing what they look like and feel like the children discussed why the leaves are turning colors.

"The leaves are changing to rainbow colors!"
~Jonathon
