Pod A

Hello Everyone!
Today was another hot and sticky day. Luckily we were prepared with water bottles on hand because there is no slowing down the children at the CDLL!

Some of the children who are heading off to kindergarten in the fall have been visiting the local elementary school that they will soon be attending. Today the children who will be attending Renaissance and Ganiard elementary took their field trip to tour their new school. The children were greeted by the principal that led them around the school, which was, “Very big” according to Jasmine. The children spoke out about the comparisons of what the kindergarten classroom had in common with their preschool classroom. “We have a group time rug too!” explained Ella, pointing to the kindergarten classroom group rug. The children who toured Ganiard noticed that the classrooms did not have cubbies, but they had lockers in the hallway. “I’m going to decorate my locker with all toy story stuff!” Cambreion said excitedly. When the children got back from their kindergarten visits they were very excited to share what they had seen with their classmates before going to lunch.
At lunch we had a picnic at the maple tree across the street from the CDLL. The tree provided everyone with much needed shade from the sun. The Children’s lunch consisted of tuna fish sandwiches, carrots, bananas and chocolate milk. While eating the bananas the children magically turned into monkeys! “Teacher, I’m a brown little monkey. Ooo oo eww eww.” said Ieva. When the children were finished eating they played with the parachute, balls, and had a sack race.

At the end of the day Ms. Corey led a movement activity with the children. They played “If Your Happy and You Know It.” The children really enjoyed playing this game because they liked to input actions to include in the song, such as spinning in circle or hopping up and down.
Overall today was a very eventful and exciting day, with all of the new experiences and
activities!

Sincerely,
Katie Murphy
