How Do Children Explore and Express Literacy at Rest Time?

During rest time the children who do not sleep are given carpet squares to rest on, a basket of books to read, look at and be read to and writing and drawing materials to use with their own personalized booklets. This week Andrew and Leah decided to read the books aloud while pointing to the word with their finger as they read.

Andrew-"Color Dance."

Andrew-"Orange is red and yellow mixed together."
Andrew- "Red,vermilion, orange,yellow,chartreuse,green,aquamarine,blue violet,purple,magenta."
Leah-"Yellow and red make orange."
Leah- "The end. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Andrew- "One more hug for Madison."

Andrew- "And blew her one more kiss."
