It was our first day back after a long three day weekend and the children were ready to go! They had knife safety appointments in the kitchen throughout the day to prepare for using these utensils at lunchtime.
Right after lunch in the large movement room, the children from Pod A participated in a giant game of Red Light Green Light on the new Galgoci race track.
The Oak Room was very popular today with a few new activities. The pottery wheel was open for the first time since break and had a long line of children ready to use it. Some made pots and others made volcanoes. Mrs. Bristley also had large glass bottles available for the children to paint after showing them examples from a CMU student that had layer after layer of texture.
"Pottery can take a long time, you can't rush it." - Helen Montross
The children are enjoying a number of new activities in the Pine Room. These include the combined vet and doctors office, as well as the new pizza parlor. The children have fun in pretend play caring for each other and their pets and then serving up some free pizza.
Today in the Maple Room, the trains were very popular. Some made long trains while others made short ones. A few students set up some of the curved blocks to create a tunnel for their trains to go through.
It was a great active day back from a long weekend and I can't wait to see how the rest of the week unfolds.
