Another Monday complete!
It was a busy day at the C.D.L.L. This morning a friend came from the C.M.U. Biology department to discuss birds. She brought different bird specimens for the children to examine and compare.
In the Walnut room, children discovered the magnetic labyrinths. Using a magnetic wand, the children moved the beads through a wooden maze. The birdseed sensory table was also popular. The children used spoons to pour the birdseed into funnels.
Orange scented play-dough was a hit in the Oak room today. The children used their hands and cookie cutters to manipulate the play-dough. Glitter glue was a new addition to the collage area. Children enjoyed adding the glue to their art creations.
Building sheds was a continuing theme in the Maple room. Children used many different types of blocks to build their structures. In the recyclable area, some children dressed themselves as robots!
In the Pine room, children toted around baby dolls in strollers. They also feed and rocked their dolls. The children have started to transform the kitchen area into a drive-thru restaurant. The orders are taken at the window and then prepared and served in the kitchen.
While outside today, the children helped hang bird feeders in the trees on the playground. The bird feeders were made last week during outside time using vegetable shortening and bird seed.
Here's to hoping for another great week!
