Happy Monday! 2/11/13

Happy Monday Everyone!

We had a great day back at school! In the Walnut room we played with marble structures, made Valentine's Day cards and played with the magnetic tiles.

In the Oak room we played with moon sand, used the pottery wheel and also made Valentine's Day cards.

In the Maple room we played with trains, made lego planes and helicopters, and played with the different toy animals.

In the Pine room we played with cats in the snow area, we had a lot of doctor visits and there was a lot of play in the cafe with children making tea and hot chocolate.

It was a very wet day outside, but the children still played on the sleds, had fun going down the slippery slide and helped Mr. Jonaitis make a big snow man.

In the Pine room, the children continue to play in the doctor area and treat other students as well as the animals at the veterinary section.
Some students show us how to use the phone by texting and how to dial in numbers.
To go along with all the snow we have received, the winter area was a big hit where Mrs. Potter read and talked about polar bears.
The children decided to play house and played different roles as the mother, daughter, boyfriend, and girlfriends. They had jobs such as a secretary, doctors as well as an owner at a restaurant.

In the Oak room, children continue to work on clay using the pottery tools. Ms. Goodman joined some students to play with the moon sand.

Maggie pretends to teach students how to use cameras by being a teacher, takes attendance reads a story as well as teaching about respectful listening.

"You are talking when I am trying to teach. You need to show respectful listening." -Maggie

In the Walnut room, students have been experimenting the sensory table with oobleck.

When creating the oobleck, it would rise as you put the water in.

Jeremiah plays with a plastic toy person and said "He's getting higher and higher!"

Today we finally got to go outside and play on the playground. The children were riding bikes and using shovels to break up ice that had formed over the garden.

During center time in the Walnut room the children turned on music and took turns choosing which song to dance to.

The construction area was very popular as usual. Lysander worked all morning and afternoon on his structure. A few of his friends even joined in to contribute.

Also in the Maple room, a lot of children built roads for their ambulances, police cars, and dump trucks to drive on. They really enjoyed making siren noises too!
