Today in the Maple room, the children were building sheds using the magnetic shapes.  Once the sheds were built they were used as "storage" for animals and trains!  The wooden dollhouse was also popular.  Children played house using the figurines to make different families.

 

The children enjoyed the fresh vegetables, such as pumpkins and peppers, at the Farmer's Market in the Pine room.  As usual, the dolls were popular. The children fastened them in their carseats and toted them around the classroom.  Some of the children even had time to do some laundry!

The Oak room was busy! Mrs. Bristley took appointments to introduce wire today. The children learned about the different gages of the wire, as well as how to cut it, bend it and twist it.  The children were able to manipulate the wire to make abstract creations.  The ribbon station was still a hit! Cutting the ribbon to make bracelets was a common theme!

Children working in the Walnut room were busy at the writing center, where they traced stencils using markers!

 

Ms.McGee made a special trip to the C.D.L.L. today! The children had the opportunity to visit her in the kitchen area. She read a book and the children taste tested different breads.  The children were excited to try the banana bread and "the long bread." 

 

The children are looking forward to their field trip at Island Park tomorrow!  Enjoy the rest of your week!

Hello Everyone!!!

 Today was lots of fun, in the Oak room the children made their own play dough to play with.The children followed a recipe measuring the ingredients in measuring cups and taking turns to pour the ingredients in the large bowl. The children mixed all the ingredients together in a large bowl together with their hands. We put pumpkin spice in the play dough to make it smell like pumpkins.

 In the Pine room children very interested in new items we have at the farmer's market in the classroom. We have real corn, real pumpkins, and real melons. The children were talking about the different things we have in our classroom and hoping to see what the farmer's market will have when we go on our field trip on Thursday!!!

 In the Walnut room at the sensory tables the children were playing with shaving cream and using tweezers to pick seeds out of the sunflowers.

 In the large motor room the children were doing rough and tumble on mats with Ms. Potter and also did yoga.

In the Maple room the children were building towers at the construction center. Have a good Tuesday!!

Monday October 8th

Happy Monday!

We are still keeping busy at school and had a few new activities today!

In the Pine room the children were pretending with the babies.  Car seats were added this week so the children are really enjoying acting like moms and dads carrying around their babies in their safe car seats. The flashlights were focused in a new way today! The children were looking for monsters with the flashlights!

The Maple room was as busy as always with trains and lots of building.  The children are really starting to bring all of the activities of the room together by including wooden blocks, the magnetic shapes, the train tracks, and the animals all together.  There were a few structures built today that included many of these. 

The hallway was a pretty relaxed today with a few children playing with the house, playing with the gorillas, and experimenting with the musical instruments.  It was awesome to see some of the children get really excited over the tuning forks! When held to correct way and gently held up to your ear, you can hear a quiet tone.  They loved to listen to it and get it to ring for their friends. 

 The Walnut room was a huge hit today! Shaving cream was added to the sensory tables! The kids went crazy over it and it was so fun to watch, even if it wasn’t so fun cleaning it up :) Mrs. Gursky was doing color mixing today! Mixing blue, green, yellow, and red was fun for the children to predict what the color outcome was going to be!

In the Oak room we made play-doh again! This time we added pumpkin spice to the mix to make it smell like pumpkin! At the light table we were painting with pumpkins and leaves.  At the collage table, ribbon was added! The children loved to pick their own piece of ribbon and cut it to size.  Some of the children came out with ribbon bracelets and bow ties!

Exploration with the art cart continued as more children discovered the paint dobbers.  Everyone was excited to get a chance to work on a picture with the newest craft supplies!

For snack, there was blueberries which could be seen on the faces of most children! Yum yum!

In the oak room, Mrs. Bristley continued to have appointments with the children to discuss how to be the boss of their brush! The children then explored the use of watercolors and how colors mix.

In the large movement room, the children were able to participate in an obstacle course.  This was very popular when planning where to work for the day.

Wednesday October 2, 2012

Today the children in the Walnut classroom were discovering magnifying glasses and looking at nature items.

The fizzy waters were still a huge hit as well.

In the Oak children played with play dough and had appointments with Mrs. Bristley about being the 'Boss of their Brush'.

In the Maple construction was going on combined with the recyclables  Trains and roads were built through out the classroom and children could be heard talking in excitement about what they were building.

In the Pine classroom children made letters and envelopes out of paper and also played with the dramatic play items pretending to be a family and play house.

At the end of the day the children had an obstacle course to complete instead of going outside due to the rain. The kids loved it!

Some of the children in the walnut room started the day by working on a puzzle together.  They were very excited when they completed it the first time and continued to pull it apart to start over.

Exploration with the sunflower continued as more children visited the walnut room.  Children could be heard yelling in excitement as they pulled out a seed or two

The art cart outdoors continued to be a hit with the children.  They were all excited to make their own pictures.  

In the sandbox, children could be found digging for potatoes.  They said that they had read a book about digging for potatoes and were looking for some themselves.  

Overall, it was a great day in the CDLL!

Happy Monday!

Today was a great start to the new week.

 

In the Walnut classroom the children were able to get a closer look at a sunflower. They used tweezers to pull out the seeds and had discussions about where they would plant the seeds.

 

In the Maple classroom children were using the recyclables to make fishing poles and different fishing items. They were using the bench as a boat and placing the fish they caught into a basket.

 

Some of you may have noticed that your child brought home a beaded necklace or bracelet. In the hallway today the children were making their own necklaces and bracelets that they could bring home.

 

In the Oak classroom some children made appointments to paint with the water colors on special water colored paper and learn more about being the "boss" of your paint brush. The children were also interested in using different materials to make a collage.

 

In the Pine classroom lots of children were playing school and circle time. The children were taking turns being the teacher and reading different books and doing different movement activities with their classmates.

 

 

New outside today was the Art Cart which is a cart filled with different types of art supplies and paper. The children were coloring with markers and using the sponge markers to make pictures.

 

 

Overall, we had a really great day and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun and kept very busy :)
